What we do
HMD Beej sells seed for green fodder and pasture: fodder oats, annual kharif grasses, perennial pasture grasses, forage legumes and fodder trees. We also stock the green-manure crops that go into the soil before a main crop.
For a dairy farmer, fodder is planned in cuts rather than harvests. So every lot lists the seed rate per acre, the days to the first cut, the cuts you can expect in a year and, for the perennials, how many years the stand will last.
What we sell
Our catalogue is 25 products across 5 categories:
- Winter Fodder — Fodder oats for green cuts through the rabi months, when grazing runs short. (4 products)
- Annual Fodder Grasses — Dinanath and teosinte: quick kharif green fodder from a single sowing. (3 products)
- Perennial Pasture Grasses — Guinea, Rhodes, setaria, signal, anjan and marvel grass. Sow once and cut for years. (8 products)
- Forage Legumes & Fodder Trees — Stylo, desmanthus, rice bean and subabul: protein for the ration, with nitrogen for the soil. (5 products)
- Green Manure — Dhaincha, sunhemp and pillipesara, grown to be ploughed back in before the main crop. (5 products)
Everything listed is supplied as seed for sowing and cultivation. Nothing on this website is sold as food, feed or a food ingredient, and nothing is processed for consumption.
Who we serve
Dairy farmers and cooperatives, goshalas, goat and sheep rearers, farmers restoring grazing land, and growers who green-manure before paddy or sugarcane.
How we price
The price shown on a product page is the final price of that product. Nothing is added to it at checkout except the shipping charge, which is stated before you pay. The price recorded at the moment of sale is the price printed on your invoice, so a later catalogue correction never rewrites a document already issued.
How we operate
- Orders are dispatched within 1-2 working days, with courier tracking on every consignment.
- Checkout itemises the product total and shipping before payment. The total shown is the total charged.
- Every paid order generates a numbered invoice automatically, available from your order page.
- Every payment is reconciled against exactly one order using the gateway transaction reference.
- Cancellation, return, refund and shipping terms are published in full and linked from every page.
